LIVESMART BC RECEIVES SUSTAINABILITY STAR
LiveSmart BC has received a Sustainability Star for helping B.C. residents make carbon smart choices at home, at work and on the road.
The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games created the Sustainability Star program to recognize the innovative efforts Vancouver 2010 and its many partners and sponsors are taking to be environmentally, economically and socially sustainable.
The program, which will run until March 31, 2010, will put these innovations in the international spotlight as Vancouver and Whistler welcome the world in 2010.

College Breaks Ground for $28M Centre of Excellence
PENTICTON – Construction is set to begin on Okanagan College’s new $28-million Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Technologies and Renewable Energy Conservation following the official groundbreaking by provincial, federal and college representatives. The project will create up to 179 direct jobs.

Province Advances Commitment to Clean, Renewable Energy
VICTORIA – As part of its commitment to reduce greenhouse gases and become a clean energy powerhouse, the Province has clarified its intention to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) to end BC Hydro’s reliance on the Burrard Thermal Generating Facility for energy needs. The decision was announced today by Blair Lekstrom, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.
