Climate Action Team
- The Climate Action Team is a 'blue ribbon' panel of leaders from environmental organizations, private enterprise, the scientific community, First Nations and academia.
- Formed in November 2007, the Team includes 21 members and is chaired by Cheryl Slusarchuk, president of the Premier's Technology Council.
- The Climate Action Secretariat co-ordinates and facilitates the Team's work.
- The Team's role is to make expert recommendations on credible, aggressive and economically viable interim greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets for 2012 and 2016.
- This will bridge the gap between climate action measures that have already been announced and the 33 per cent emissions reduction target that must be met by 2020.
- The team also provides advice on the government's commitment to have a carbon neutral public sector by 2010.
- On August 6, 2008, in the report "Meeting British Columbia's Targets," B.C.’s Climate Action Team presented its recommendations for strategies and interim emissions targets for 2012 and 2016. The report is open for public comment until October 6, 2008.
