Cabinet Committee on Climate Action

  • The Cabinet Committee on Climate Action is chaired by the Premier and brings together key government ministries to make policy related to greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and climate change adaptation.
  • The Committee includes the following B.C. Government ministries:
    • Community Services
    • Finance
    • Forests & Range
    • Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources
    • Environment
    • Labour & Citizen's Services
    • Small Business & Revenue
    • Transportation
  • The Committee had its first meeting in March 2007.
  • The Committee sits every two weeks and its work is supported by the Climate Action Secretariat.
  • The Committee's job is to:
    • Listen to scientific evidence on how to accurately measure and reduce GHG emissions.
    • Review policy options on how to reduce GHG emissions.
    • Hear suggestions from groups, individuals and businesses on possible actions to address climate change.
