Add Data
We continue to improve the catalogue over time and appreciate your data ideas and submissions. To suggest or add climate change related data, please email climateactionsecretariat@gov.bc.ca.
The catalogue includes both raw data and reference materials.
Raw Data – Raw data features a listing of static, machine-readable data sets in formats such as .XLS, .XML, .CSV, and RSS raw data files. It is a collection of unprocessed information expressed as data points, machine-readable and platform-independent. Raw data includes Geo data which may include geographic web services and data such as administrative and political boundaries, facilities and structures and various imagery and base maps. Geo data also may include a database designed to store and manipulate geospatial data, geometry data types contain the physical location of an object or standard database data types that contain the object's relevant attributes.
Reference Materials – reference materials are hyperlinks that lead to agency tools or agency web pages that may provide informative context and/or access to data.
Data can be either:
- Primary: that which speaks directly to energy use, greenhouse gas emissions or climate change impacts;
- Secondary: that which helps inform or qualify the nature of energy use or greenhouse gas emission levels (such as types of building stock, transportation infrastructure, number of related projects), or impacts data (such as amounts and type of forestry and agricultural resources, kilometres of coastline or pipelines).
If your data becomes part of the Climate Change Data Catalogue, you will be informed and involved on future initiatives regarding the use of the data.
